This booklet is a guided journal that helps young writers practice noticing everyday moments, describing feelings, telling short stories, making choices, and sharing their own ideas. It keeps drawing as an option, but gently encourages more writing than the earlier ages 6–7 starter journals.

Children can write or draw about weather, seasons, little adventures, one good thing from the day, something they made, silly faces, sharing, and everyday fun. The pages include simple prompts, rating activities, word choices to circle, short story structure, and creative response spaces.
